Why Filtration Matters

What's Actually In Your Tap Water?

Municipal treatment removes some contaminants, but not all of them. Here's what published EPA and CDC research says about what can pass through untreated.

Lead & Heavy Metals

Aging pipes and fixtures can leach lead into tap water. The CDC states there is no known safe level of lead exposure, with young children at the greatest risk of developmental effects.

Chlorine & Disinfection Byproducts

Chlorine keeps municipal water safe from bacteria, but it also reacts with organic matter to form byproducts like trihalomethanes, and is a well-known contributor to dry skin, brittle hair, and off tastes and odors.

PFAS ("Forever Chemicals")

PFAS are synthetic chemicals that don't break down in the environment or the body. The EPA's health advisories note that long-term PFAS exposure has been associated with increased health risks, including certain cancers and immune and hormonal effects.

Bacteria & Parasites

Aging infrastructure and boil-water advisories are more common than most households realize. Organisms like E. coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium can enter the water supply through pipe breaks, runoff, or treatment lapses.

Microplastics & Sediment

Researchers have detected microplastic particles in tap water samples worldwide. Long-term health effects are still being studied, but sediment and particulate filtration remains one of the simplest ways to reduce daily exposure.

Engineering Philosophy

Engineered Without Compromise.

Six principles guide every object we build — none of them negotiable.

PROCESS / MACHINING FIG. 01

Every Component, Considered.

Precision-milled from raw stainless steel and assembled by hand. Every unit passes through the same CNC-machined tolerances used in surgical-grade equipment, then a final hand-fitting pass before it ever reaches a box.

MATERIALS / COMPOSITION FIG. 02

Materials That Outlast Trends.

304 stainless steel or precision ceramic housings, paired with ceramic-carbon filtration media — nothing plastic in the water path, nothing temporary. Materials chosen because they still look right in twenty years, not just twenty days.

SYSTEM / FILTRATION FIG. 03

Multi-stage filtration tuned to disappear into daily life. No hum, no drip, no maintenance ritual — just clean water, every time you reach for it, with nothing skipped between raw intake and filtered output.

FORM / LONGEVITY FIG. 04

The Difference

Not All Filtration Is Equal.

A side-by-side look at what actually separates engineered filtration from a basic pitcher filter — the difference shows up in the water, not just the spec sheet.

Ultrafiltration

Membrane Filtration, Without The Waste.

Ultrafiltration pushes water through a hollow-fiber membrane with pores measured in nanometers — small enough to block sediment, bacteria, and cysts, while letting water flow through at full pressure. Unlike reverse osmosis, it produces zero wastewater and needs no electricity or drain line, so it fits anywhere a countertop can. HAUSTAS Pure and Pure One both run on this technology, paired with carbon and KDF stages for taste and heavy-metal reduction.

Reverse Osmosis

The Most Thorough Filtration Available.

Reverse osmosis forces water through a semi-permeable membrane fine enough to reject dissolved solids, heavy metals, and other trace contaminants that lighter filtration methods can miss — typically the most complete filtration technology sold for home use. It runs under the sink, uses a small storage tank, and delivers filtered water on demand at the tap. HAUSTAS Reserve Max pairs RO with a multi-stage pre-filter for full coverage.

Faucet Filtration

Filtration Built Into The Faucet Itself.

Instead of a separate unit taking up counter or cabinet space, faucet filtration integrates the entire filtration stack directly into the faucet body — water is filtered the moment it leaves the tap. HAUSTAS Flow and Flow Pro add precision temperature control on top, so filtered water arrives at exactly the temperature you need, without a second appliance on the counter.

Questions

Before You Buy.

Everything you need to know, in one place.

How often do I need to replace the filter cartridge?

Every 6 months under normal household use. Each cartridge is engineered for a full 6-month service life before performance begins to taper.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

No. Every HAUSTAS unit connects directly to a standard fixture — most people are up and running in under 15 minutes, no tools beyond what's in the box.

What does the filtration actually remove?

A 4-stage sequence — sediment, carbon block, KDF media, and a final polish — reduces sediment, chlorine, and heavy metals, down to a 0.5-micron final pass.

Is HAUSTAS certified?

Yes — every unit is NSF/ANSI 42 & 53 certified and individually pressure-tested before it leaves the workshop.

What's covered under warranty?

Every component is covered for 15 years, full stop — no fine print, no prorated coverage.

What if it's not right for me?

Every order ships with a 100-night trial. If it's not for you, return it for a full refund — no questions asked.

What comes in the box?

Your HAUSTAS system, the installed filter cartridge, all connection hardware, and a printed setup guide — everything you need, nothing you'll have to source separately.

Can I subscribe to replacement filters?

Not yet as an automatic subscription — but you can stock up on HAUSTAS Renew cartridges and save 15% any time, or simply reorder when you're running low.
